The Hindutva proponent makes anti-Muslim remarks; questions raised on law enforcement response in Uttarakhand
DEHRADUN — A disturbing incident has been reported from Dehradun in Uttarakhand, where a Muslim youth was allegedly assaulted by a Hindutva leader, raising serious concerns about law and order and the safety of minorities.
According to available information, Bhupesh Joshi, who is said to be associated with an outfit called Kali Sena, is seen in a viral video physically assaulting a Muslim youth while making abusive and offensive remarks.
The video, reportedly shared by the accused himself on social media, shows the youth being questioned and then beaten. The victim is also seen denying allegations made against him, but the assault continues.
During the incident, Bhupesh Joshi is heard making highly objectionable statements targeting Muslims. In the video, he claims that the youth had fed beef to a Hindu boy, an allegation that the victim denies. Despite this, he and another person are seen hitting the young man.
A resident said, “Such incidents create fear among ordinary people. No one should be attacked like this without proof.”
Another resident added, “If someone has done something wrong, the law should handle it. Taking the law into one’s own hands is not acceptable.”
The incident has led to anger and concern among local communities. Questions are being raised about the response of the police.
So far, Dehradun Police have not issued any detailed public clarification regarding the incident or any action taken.
Observers say that such acts not only violate the law but also increase tension between communities. Many have called for immediate action against those involved and proper protection for the victim.
A social worker in the city said, “The law must act equally for everyone. Violence and hate speech should not be ignored.”
