Indian Embassy Relocates Students from Tehran to Safer Place in Iran

Date:

NEW DELHI — Amid heightened risk perceptions following joint US-Israel airstrikes in Iran, the Indian embassy in Tehran has initiated the emergency relocation of Indian students to safer locations.

The Jammu and Kashmir Students Association (JKSA), which is in constant touch with the evacuated youths, confirmed that all Indian nationals are safe. “We are in regular communication with the students. The Embassy has relocated them to Qom. All Indian students in Tehran, including those from Jammu & Kashmir, are safe,” a JKSA spokesperson said.

“The decision to relocate is a precautionary measure in view of the deteriorating security situation,” the JKSA said in Srinagar, confirming that all Indian students, including those from Jammu and Kashmir, are currently safe.

The association further informed that a formal evacuation process to bring the students back to India is expected in the coming days, though it remains subject to the resumption of airspace operations and the evolving ground situation.

While anxiety among parents remains high due to the volatile environment, the timely relocation has provided a sense of reassurance and relief to families back home,” Nasir Kheuhami, national convenor of JKSA, said.

Ministry of External Affairs (MEA) and the Embassy of India in Tehran are closely monitoring developments on the ground and are actively coordinating necessary arrangements to safeguard Indian nationals.

“Further steps, including a possible evacuation, are expected to be undertaken in the coming days, subject to the reopening of airspace and the evolving security situation,” Nasir Kheuhami said.

The JKSA has expressed its sincere appreciation and gratitude to the Ministry of External Affairs and the Embassy of India in Tehran for their prompt response, proactive engagement, and continuous communication during this critical period. — With agency inputs
