India Palestine Solidarity Forum Denounces PM Modi’s Visit to Israel

Date:

Terms it a Betrayal of India’s Anti-Colonial Legacy, Strategic Interests and Multipolar World

India Palestine Solidarity Forum

NEW DELHI — The India Palestine Solidarity Forum (IPSF) expresses its gravest concern and strongest condemnation regarding Prime Minister Narendra Modi’s current visit to Israel. At a moment when the international community is increasingly isolating Israel for its documented genocidal war and deepening occupation of Palestine, this visit represents a total departure from the moral, ethical, and strategic foundations of the Indian Republic.

A Betrayal of Our Founding Fathers

By embracing the current Israeli regime, PM Modi has categorically betrayed India’s rich anti-colonial tradition. Our independence movement, led by legendary figures such as Mahatma Gandhi, Jawaharlal Nehru, Maulana Abul Kalam Azad, Subhash Chandra Bose, Dr. Babasaheb Ambedkar, Shahid Bhagat Singh, among other greats, was built on the universal principles of freedom, anti-colonialism, and the right to self-determination. To abandon the Palestinian cause is to abandon the very values that birthed our nation.

Abandoning the Two-State Solution – as Netanyahu pursues “Greater Israel”

In a shocking departure from decades of consensus, PM Modi did not even bother to refer to India’s traditional position of a “Two-State Solution.” This silence comes as Gaza stands devastated and extremist Jewish settlers conduct daily attacks across the West Bank—territory Israel has sworn to annex as part of its “Greater Israel” project, a chilling expansionist vision stretching from the Nile to the Euphrates, from Egypt to Iraq. Furthermore, Modi’s references to the “Abraham Accords” and Trump’s “Board of Peace” are far removed from reality. The majority of nations have stayed away from this so-called Board, seeing it as a tool to perpetuate the occupation of Palestine by other means, while the Palestinian people themselves are denied any voice in its functioning.

Israel’s International Isolation

Today, Israel stands totally isolated. PM Netanyahu is a recognized war criminal with an outstanding arrest warrant issued by the International Criminal Court (ICC). The ongoing genocide in Gaza and ethnic cleansing have made Israel a pariah. For PM Modi to stand firmly next to Netanyahu at this moment will only lead to him being equated with and reviled as Netanyahu is the world over.

Baseless Rhetoric and Disingenuous Irony

PM Modi’s reference to “terror” while standing next to Benjamin Netanyahu—a certified war criminal guilty of terrorizing, bombing, and massacring an entire population—could not be more misplaced, pathetic and ironical. The Prime Minister’s new disingenuous phrase, “terror anywhere threatens peace everywhere,” is nothing more than baseless rhetoric when used to shield a regime currently terrorising and committing genocide against women and children in Gaza.

The “Hexagon Alliance” and the Abandonment of Global South Leadership

The attempt to draw India into the “Hexagon Alliance”—designed by Netanyahu to target primarily Muslim nations—will devastate India’s standing in the global community. This narrow communal vision alienates the Muslim world and causes immense harm to our economic and strategic interests in the Gulf and West Asia and the wider world. This alliance also targets nations like South Africa, Venezuela, Cuba, Brazil, Colombia, Mexico, Ireland, Spain, rather all countries that stand with the Palestinian cause. By choosing this path, Modi relinquishes India’s leadership of the Global South, the Global Majority, to China, Russia, and Iran, aligning instead with the waning Unipolar dominance of Trump and Netanyahu.

Erosion of Democracy and Growing Domestic Violence

Under the Modi regime, India is no longer viewed as a liberal, secular democracy, but increasingly as a far-right Hindutva authoritarian fascist state. Over the course of the last decade, we have witnessed a terrifying surge in anti-Muslim and anti-Christian violence, alongside atrocities against Dalits, Adivasis, and women. Modi’s foreign policy—driven by his and the RSS’s narrow communal focus—has severely diminished India’s moral authority and international standing.

Aligning with Fascism and Failed Militarism

This visit aligns India with the most radical Jewish Zionist extremist supremacist regime in Israel’s history. As Israeli society swiftly drifts toward a fascistic, extreme far-right ideology, PM Modi attempts to offer a veneer of legitimacy to an apartheid state waging war against Palestine, Lebanon, Syria, Yemen, Qatar, Iran, and Sudan.

As Israel rapidly loses its space with the US and Europe, with the “Abraham Accord” in tatters, the overwhelming majority of the world standing with Palestine, the strategy is now to ensnare India as the next host.

Furthermore, the much-touted transfer of “Iron Dome” technology is a strategic mirage, and a ruse for corruption. These systems failed during the last war with Iran, proving unable to intercept missiles. This will prove to be similar to the fiasco of the Rafale deal which despite the hype failed to bolster our defences.

A Compromised and Directionless Policy

Modi’s visit could not have been more ill-timed with US & Israel threatening Iran with war, which will devastate the region and the fires could spread to the entire world.

Under pressure from the Trump regime, India has stopped purchasing oil from Russia and Iran, which will cause great harm to our energy sovereignty. We have lost the strategic Iranian Chabahar port due to threats of US sanctions and tariffs. Losing access to Iran and the Chabahar port greatly diminishes our direct access to Afghanistan and the energy and resource rich Central Asian nations. We are on the verge of losing Russia, our most trusted partner since Independence.

Despite 11 years of travel, Modi’s foreign policy offers only optics over strategic depth, punctuated by insults from “My Friend Trump” since Operation Sindoor. With the Adani arrest warrants, the Pannu-Nijjar assassination scandals, and the Epstein Files, it is evident the regime is highly compromised.

This is the weakest government ever since our independence, driven both by external pressure and also by shared fascist ideological interests and egomaniacal personalities that draw these premiers together, dragging their citizens to the wrong side of history and posing a threat to our very national sovereignty.

Conclusion: The IPSF calls upon political parties, social movements, and citizens to recognize that this visit is “NOT IN OUR NAME”. We demand a return to a sovereign, independent foreign policy that prioritizes justice over fascistic megalomania.

Signed,
