NEW DELHI — Tension has risen in Haryana’s Faridabad district after members of the Muslim community alleged repeated harassment during prayers at Dhuba Mosque. Following complaints from residents, workers of the Bhim Army and the Azad Samaj Party reached the area and assured worshippers of their support and protection.

According to residents, members of some Hindu organisations had allegedly objected to Muslims offering prayers at the mosque and had attempted to disrupt the congregation on several occasions. Community members said the repeated objections created fear in the locality and disturbed communal peace.

A local worshipper said, “We only gather here to offer namaz peacefully. But some people have been objecting and trying to disturb us again and again. This has created tension in the area.” Another resident added, “People from all communities were feeling uneasy because the situation was becoming tense.”

After receiving information about the issue, members of the Bhim Army and the Azad Samaj Party visited Dhuba Mosque and held discussions with members of the Muslim community. They appealed for calm and said they would stand with those facing harassment.

Sushil Singhoria, district president of Bhim Army in Faridabad, said no one would be allowed to take the law into their own hands. “If any person tries to break the law, we will stand against that,” he said. India is a secular country. We must stand with you so that the rights given under the Constitution are not violated.”

He further told the community, “If anyone troubles you, you do not need to be afraid. The law is with us.” Singhoria also assured residents that Bhim Army chief and Nagina MP Chandrashekhar Azad supports their cause and stands with them.

Responding to allegations that the Bhim Army receives funding from the Muslim community, Singhoria rejected the claims. “These accusations are completely wrong,” he said. “There has been historical support between our communities. This is not new. It goes back to the time of our great leaders.”

He referred to the role of Muslims in supporting BR Ambedkar during his political journey and mentioned cooperation during the social reform movements led by Jyotirao Phule and Savitribai Phule, including support from Fatima Sheikh. “Muslim leaders have made important contributions to the country and society,” Singhoria said. “If there is any mistreatment of the Muslim community in Faridabad, we will stand with them.”

Police presence in the area has reportedly been increased to prevent further escalation. Officials have not yet issued a detailed public statement regarding the allegations, but have appealed for peace and cooperation from all sides.

Residents say they hope the matter will be resolved through dialogue and lawful action. “We want peace,” one elderly resident said. “Everyone has the right to pray according to their faith. There should be no fear.”

The situation remains sensitive, but community leaders have urged restraint and called upon authorities to protect religious freedom and maintain harmony in the area.
