Muslim body demands swift action, residents call for urgent corrective measures

NEW DELHI — The Jama Masjid in the Jalalpur village of Bommalaramaram Mandal in Telangana’s Yadadri Bhuvanagiri district was vandalised by unidentified miscreants on Monday, triggering widespread outrage.

Worshippers arriving for prayers were left shaken after discovering damaged walls, broken window panes, and washroom doors, along with multiple copies of the Holy Qur’an strewn across the floor bearing clear signs of desecration. Several empty bottles of beer and whisky were also found on the premises, media reports reaching here said.

According to local reports, unknown persons allegedly forced their way into the mosque, ransacked parts of the premises, and vandalised religious scriptures.

Strongly condemning the attack, Amjed Ullah Khan, spokesperson of Majlis Bachao Tehreek (MBT), termed the act “a hateful assault on religious harmony and constitutional values.” He demanded that the police immediately register a criminal case, identify the perpetrators, and ensure strict punishment under the law at the earliest.

The incident shows that the act was not merely vandalism of a place of worship but a deliberate attempt to provoke communal tension. Residents have urged the authorities to act swiftly and transparently. They should urgently take corrective measures to reassure minorities and uphold the rule of law, as failure to act decisively would embolden anti-social elements, the residents said.

Residents and local community leaders have called on the Telangana government to enhance security at religious sites and prevent such acts from recurring.

Community members and civil society groups have urged the administration to treat the attack with utmost seriousness, warning that repeated assaults on places of worship threaten India’s long-standing tradition of communal coexistence.
