Abdul Rahman, Murdered in Prison, Buried Amid Tight Security in Ayodhya

The Muslim youth, accused of plotting an attack on the Ram Temple, dies in jail under suspicious circumstances; questions are raised about jail safety and administrative oversight

AYODHYA/FARIDABAD – Abdul Rahman, the youth accused of plotting an attack on the Ram Temple in Ayodhya, was murdered inside Faridabad district jail on Monday (February 9) and later buried under tight security in a local cemetery in Majnai village, Ayodhya district.

According to reports, Abdul Rahman’s body was brought by his father and family to the cemetery around 7 am on Wednesday, where a significant police presence ensured order. Administrative officials oversaw the burial, which took place at approximately 8.30 am.

Abdul Rahman was arrested in March 2025 during a joint operation by the Gujarat Anti-Terrorism Squad (ATS) and Haryana Special Task Force (STF). Authorities alleged that he was involved in a plot targeting the Ram Temple in Ayodhya. Explosive materials were reportedly recovered from his hideout, and interrogations had yielded crucial intelligence.

The fact that Abdul Rahman was murdered by a fellow inmate inside a high-security jail has raised serious questions. His father alleged, “My son was supposed to be released on bail. Just four days before the murder, the prisoner who attacked him was shifted to the same barrack. This was not a coincidence.”

Family members insisted that this was no ordinary incident and called for a thorough, high-level investigation, stating:

“If the barracks had been changed in time and the security measures reviewed properly, this could have been prevented. We demand complete justice for Abdul Rahman.”

Local authorities confirmed that the burial in Ayodhya was carried out with utmost vigilance, preventing any disturbance to law and order. Meanwhile, multiple agencies are investigating the murder inside Faridabad jail to determine whether it was the result of a personal vendetta or a deeper conspiracy.

Observers have noted that the incident underscores systemic lapses in jail security, particularly concerning high-profile Muslim prisoners. Civil rights advocates have urged authorities to conduct a transparent inquiry, saying:

“A murder of this nature inside a prison is alarming. The families of the accused deserve answers, and public confidence in the justice system depends on a fair investigation.”

As investigations continue, the focus remains on uncovering how Abdul Rahman’s death occurred despite tight security, and whether administrative lapses or collusion contributed to the incident.
