Israeli Ceasefire Violations in Gaza Kill 420

Date:

GAZA — The Ministry of Health in Gaza reported 240 deaths and over 1,180 injuries due to Israeli violations of the ceasefire agreement. Humanitarian groups called for the introduction of mobile homes to address the ongoing displacement crisis in the Strip.

Israeli aircraft carried out around 10 airstrikes in areas with Israeli troop deployments east of Rafah and Khan Younis on Sunday. Several buildings were also destroyed east of Gaza City.

The Ministry of Health said Sunday that the total death toll from Israeli attacks since October 2023 has reached 71,386, with 171,264 people injured. Rescue teams have recovered 684 bodies from under the rubble since the ceasefire took effect on October 10.

Meanwhile, residents in Gaza continue to suffer harsh conditions in shelters and displacement camps. Aid delivery remains severely restricted, particularly for tents, mobile homes, and other essential shelter materials.

According to Gaza’s government media office, Israel allowed only about 20,000 aid trucks into the Strip out of 48,000 scheduled over 80 days. The daily average reached just 253 trucks, far below the planned 600.

Amjad al-Shawa, head of the network of civil society organisations, warned of a worsening humanitarian crisis. He said tents are not a solution for a displacement problem that has lasted more than two years.

Al-Shawa told Al Jazeera that roughly 900,000 displaced people live in dire conditions inside worn-out tents. He urged authorities to allow mobile homes into the Strip immediately.

In addition to the human toll, the Israeli genocide, backed by US support, left massive destruction. About 90% of Gaza’s civilian infrastructure was damaged. The United Nations estimates reconstruction costs at around $70 billion. — QNN
