He alleged that Prime Minister Narendra Modi possesses a “fake degree” and blamed it for his alleged indifference towards education.
AURANGABAD — Congress leader Rahul Gandhi on Tuesday alleged that Prime Minister Narendra Modi wants the youth to remain busy in making social media reels, so that they stay distracted from pressing problems about education, health and employment.
He alleged that Prime Minister Narendra Modi possesses a “fake degree” and blamed it for his alleged indifference towards education.
He also accused the Prime Minister of wanting India’s youth to remain distracted by social media, instead of questioning his government on issues concerning education, health and employment, PTI reported.
The Leader of the Opposition in the Lok Sabha made the remarks during his rallies in Bihar, where he addressed three back-to-back election meetings on the final day of campaigning for the first phase of the assembly polls.
Recalling the country’s ancient legacy of higher learning, the Raebareli MP said, “In ancient times, Nalanda was home to one of the best universities, seeking admission to which students from China, Japan and Korea used to make a beeline. But Narendra Modi has no appreciation for such things. He possesses a degree that is fake,” alleged Gandhi.
He further stated that the INDIA bloc, if voted to power, would establish a new centre of higher learning in Nalanda.
Addressing another rally in Bihar’s Aurangabad, Gandhi alleged that the Prime Minister wants the youth to remain preoccupied with social media to divert attention from pressing national concerns.
“Modi wants you to become addicted to making reels, Instagram, Facebook. This is the new high of the 21st century. He wants such a scenario because this would ensure that the youth remain distracted and do not hold his government accountable for their problems about education, health and employment,” he alleged.
The Congress leader also claimed that Modi and Union Home Minister Amit Shah “were indulging in ‘vote chori’ (vote theft) in Bihar, as they know the NDA would not win the assembly polls.”
“The INDIA bloc, if voted to power in Bihar, will be a government of the extremely backward, socially marginalised and Dalits,” the former Congress president asserted.
Slamming the NDA government in the state, Gandhi accused Chief Minister Nitish Kumar of turning the youth of Bihar into labourers. “Question paper leaks are also a regular affair in Bihar, benefitting the financially rich students,” he alleged.
