2 Muslim Kids Thrashed for not Chanting ‘Jai Shri Ram’ in Bengal’s Asansol

ASANSOL –  In yet another incident of hate crimes against Muslims, 2 Muslim children were thrashed for not chanting Jai Shri Ram in West Bengal’s Asansol district.

According to Urdu daily Rashtriy Sahara, the incident forced Muslims to live in a state of fear, while school and markets remain shut. Recently, Rizwan from north Asansol was lynched by a mob there.

Two children who were returning from school at Musaddi locality were stopped and asked to chant Jai Shrei Ram. When they refused they were beaten and threatened to be killed. In the meantime, local Muslim youths reached the spot and rescued the minors.

Police succeeded in nabbing one accused while others escaped. Heavy police force was deployed in the area. All the shops on KT Road in North Asansol remained shut.

The incident is being seen as an attempt to instigate the communal passions among the people in the constituency which is represented by the Bharatiya Janata Party’s Babul Supriyo.

There is a clear pattern of these hate crimes which are mostly committed in the name of slogan ‘Jai Shri Ram’. Earlier, these crimes were committed in the name of cow and now it is being committed in the name of slogan ‘Jai Shri Ram’.
