MADINAH Feb 8 – Twelve persons were killed in a fire that broke out in Ishraq Al-Madinah Hotel in the holy city of Madinah on Saturday, according to a statement issued by Madinah Governorate. Over 130 people, mostly pilgrims, were injured, said the statement.
Authorities evacuated the guests and closed off the street leading to the hotel, located on Sitteen Street.
The hotel had 700 guests at the time of the fire. Helicopters were pressed into service to evacuate the trapped people. Arab News
