BENGALURU — In a remarkable initiative announced on the birthday of former President Dr APJ Abdul Kalam, Wali Rahmani, a prominent social figure and educationist, has unveiled the Kalam Learning Centre. The centre is set to become a significant source of scholarships, with an astounding budget of ₹50 crore allocated to support Muslim students from fifth to twelfth grade across the country.
Wali Rahmani, 29, gained national attention last year when he raised ₹10 crore in just one week to establish a complete school in West Bengal. Now, he is back with another ambitious plan aimed at uplifting Muslim children through education. In a video released on the occasion of Kalam’s birthday on October 15, Rahmani expressed his commitment to creating leaders who embody the vision of Abdul Kalam.
“We have united teachers from various reputed coaching centres, who have educated lakhs of children and helped thousands gain admission to National Medical Colleges and IITs,” Rahmani explained. “It is disheartening to note that while Muslims make up 21 percent of the country’s population, their representation in IT and medical colleges is alarmingly low. Therefore, these dedicated teachers have come together on one platform to address this issue.”
The Kalam Learning Centre will offer coaching at subsidised fees to ensure that more Muslim students can access quality education. The details of the scholarship initiative are as follows:
• Net Coaching: ₹2,500 per annum
• IT Coaching: ₹3,000 per annum
• Ameer Islamia Jamia & AMU Entrance Preparation: ₹300
Rahmani outlined the eligibility criteria for students interested in the scholarship. The scholarship test is open to students in classes six to twelve. Upon qualifying, students will benefit from significantly reduced coaching fees, making advanced education more accessible to them.
To participate in the scholarship test, students can visit the Kalam Learning Centre’s website or download the associated app to register. Those who encounter difficulties during registration can seek assistance by calling the helpline number provided.
As he concluded the announcement, Rahmani urged viewers to share the video widely. “Consider it your responsibility to share this video with the parents of every Muslim child in the country so that no child misses out on this great opportunity,” he said.
In a powerful message, Rahmani challenged the established leaders, questioning, “If a young man can build a school in a year, why can’t they take similar initiatives?” His words resonate with a growing sentiment that calls for proactive measures to improve educational access for underrepresented communities.
The Kalam Learning Centre represents not only a chance for better educational opportunities but also a vision for the future of Muslim youth in India. With the support of dedicated educators and community leaders, this initiative hopes to inspire a new generation of scholars who can carry forward the legacy of APJ Abdul Kalam.
